Custom Massage

Typically referred to as a Swedish massage. Whitney asks the questions necessary to ensure this service is tailored to suit each individual client's needs. The use of long, deliberate strokes aid in relaxation and hot stones and stretching assist in getting the soft tissue to lengthen and release any tension they may be holding.

Recommended session is 90 minutes.

Hot Stone Massage

Allow yourself to unwind completely with a hot stone massage. Whitney uses the stones in conjunction with her long, soothing strokes to soften the muscle tissue and aid in the circulation processes of the body. The heat from the stones helps quicken the relaxation process allowing the client to receive the maximum benefit from the therapy session.

Prenatal or Postnatal massage

This is Whitney's favorite modality. Helping mothers relax and find relief during their pregnancy and the month following labor and delivery is what she loves most about being a therapist. Focusing on hips, lower back, and the jaw (yes- the jaw), Whitney addresses the areas that change, shift, and usually ache the most during pregnancy. Aroma-therapies can be used to help with nausea, or relaxation as well. This treatment can be done side-lying, or with the mother lying propped up on her back. Honestly, this treatment is the one that varies the most from mother to mother depending on the stage in pregnancy and other factors that may pop up.  Infants are invited into the office to nurse for postnatal massage. This therapy helps shift organs and tighten muscles back into their position before pregnancy began.

Therapy session times are recommended to increase as the pregnancy progresses. This allows for bathroom breaks, water, and more attention to specific issues that may be occurring as the baby grows and shifts positions in the womb.

Sports Massage

This massage has a variety of purposes and the way it is performed depends heavily on the athlete's personal needs. If it is pre-event and there are no major injuries to focus on, vigorous, short strokes coupled with tapotement (think beating on a drum) keep muscles full of blood and perfectly relaxed and free of trigger points. Post-event sports massage is generally a lighter, longer stroke focusing on releasing lactic acid and moving blood to areas of the body that need it for quicker healing. If a chronic injury to the soft tissue or connective tissue is presenting itself, stretching and triggerpoint therapy are often incorporated into the massage. Acute injuries are looked at on a case by case basis.

Aromatherapy

With the use of both a diffuser and topical application, Whitney uses her knowledge of essential oils coupled with massage to help with anxiety, fatigue, pain, and other ailments. Be sure to inquire about this massage BEFORE your treatment date so the proper blend or oil can be used for maximum results and personalized treatment.

Just as the name suggests, this massage is less about painful, hard elbow strokes and more about softening the superficial muscle tissue in order to permeate through to the muscles underneath. Especially beneficial if you are having sciatic issues, tennis elbow, or neck pain this massage is more therapeutic in nature. That said, sometimes these deeper lying muscles may be more sensitive and tender. A longer therapy session allows for the process to be gentler and smoother on the body. Usually more toxins are released during a deep tissue massage and Whitney recommends following up the session with a hot epsom salt bath to help draw these toxins out of the body.

Recommended session is 90 minutes

Epsom salt bags are available for purchase with this service for $5.
